An Exclusive Interview With Lucie Arnaz, "Hello Lucie!"

LUCIE ARNAZ: LOVING THIS LUCIE

Here’s Lucy

Descending from such a gifted lineage of show business royalty, one might assume that feeling comfortable in front of an audience, and living in the steady glow of the public spotlight would come as second nature for the eldest offspring of entertainment legends Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. But that wasn’t always so for the little girl who was then affectionately known as “Little Lucie”.

Despite an invitation to appear with her parents on what has now become the most popular and beloved sitcom in television history, Lucie Desiree’ Arnaz decided not to make her TV debut on I Love Lucy. Though rumored to have appeared alongside her brother as one of the children in “The Ricardos Dedicate a Statue”, Desi Jr. can be spotted in the background, but don’t be fooled; this Lucie is nowhere to be seen.

“I can pretty much tell you why I’m not there. I probably refused to come out of my room to do it, because I was extremely shy.” So much so, that when the siblings would be introduced while watching the show from the audience bleachers, Arnaz repeatedly rebuffed the acknowledgements.

“Desi would immediately stand up and take this cute little gentlemanly bow with one hand in the front and the other in the back, and then they would say, ‘and our daughter Lucie.’ And they’d look around, and they couldn’t find me! I was under the seat! I had usually crawled under the seat!”

If you would like to read more of Lucie Arnaz's interview, please consider purchasing the full interview on e-book (readable on your pc). Actress Heather Woodruff Perry

In honor of 10/10/10, I am profiling 10 of my friends that either have a new book, an exciting social cause, or simply want to share about their life. I asked American actress Heather Woodruff Perry to participate. She is a very well versed actress working on screen as well as in stage plays, and on radio. When you have the privileged opportunity of meeting her (such as myself, my husband, two daughters and son)in person, she is tall, funny, smart, sweet, with beautiful vibrant red hair, and a very sincere, loving person. She recently has had hand surgery, so asking her to share an update on her life was a major feat for her to take the time to accommodate my request. Please welcome Actress and entrepreneur, Heather Woodruff Perry. Her update is in her own words. Please take special notation to the fact that Mr. Bob Hope asked her to go to Vietnam!
"I'm making silver jewelry with Balinese beads and precious stones. And continuing to work on my book about my adventures as a young actress in Hollywood in the mid-Sixties, Screen Gems, Getting cast as Betty on Bewitched. This brought me an offer to go to Vietnam with Bob Hope."
"I asked if I could go with a smaller group and The USO gave me a band of 3 musicians and I sang and danced, told jokes and was "just a girl from HOME" to our fighting soldiers in remote combat area's, Field Hospitals and ended up with 5,000 men and ME on the largest Aircraft carrier in the Gulf of Tonkin The USS Enterprise! I'm a lucky blessed girl. I am also performing at the Old Time Radio Convention in Los Angeles SPERDVAC, on November 6th, playing another colorful character in a Nero Wolf episode."

Author Profile, Peter Alachi

In honor of 10/10/10, I am profiling 10 of my friends who would like to publicize their latest book, business, skill, or something that makes them unique.
Today, meet author Peter Alachi.

Peter Alachi teaches Biology at Salem State University and is the host of ‘Showcase Salem with Peter Alachi,’ a local community-interest program, airing on Salem Access Television. He is the author of two additional Salem-related ‘Bewitched’ books: ‘A Pictorial Tale of the Bewitched Statue of Salem, Massachusetts—in 3D,’ and ‘Salem’s Summer of Sam: On the Trail of Bewitched in Salem, 1970.

He was in the witch’s room at the Hawthorne Motor Hotel. Standing in front of him were the guard and the bald man. His heart was racing. Then the blonde witch appeared, smiling as she reached her hand out to him and said, “Oh, hello!” There he was, less than a foot away, looking down at this giant of TV-comedy—Elizabeth Montgomery of ‘Bewitched!‘

Gary Richard was hired as Dick Sargent’s stand-in and was adopted by the ‘Bewitched’ family, joining in their day-to-day routines—working, eating and hanging out with them. His fame as the Gloucester Fisherman statue quickly spread throughout Cape Ann where he became a cause-célèbre as fans desperately sought out his autograph. This book tells his story with the ‘Bewitched’ cast during that magical week of June 20, 1970.

You can find Mr. Alachi on Facebook.
